Craig McPherson defects back to Seven to be director of news and public affairs
Seven has moved to bolster its news division by bringing back former Today Tonight executive producer Craig McPherson for the position of director of news and public affairs.
McPherson moved to Nine in 2013 but will return to the network with management responsibility for Seven News, Sunday Night, Sunrise, The Morning Show, The Daily Edition and Today Tonight in that programme’s two major metropolitan markets: Perth and Adelaide.
In a statement announcing the appointment, Tim Worner, CEO of Seven West Media, said: “I am pleased to be working again with Craig.
“He’s a great operator. He has a passion for news and public affairs and is driven by success. I look forward to him once again being a vital part of Seven.”
Asked what impact the new appointment will have on network director of news Rob Raschke a Seven spokesman said McPherson would have a “broader remit” with Raschke report ingin to McPherson.
Seven has struggled in recent years against Nine in the news stakes often trailing its arch news rival nationally.

McPherson has been waiting in the wings for his moment and this is it.
I very smart pickup by Seven .

Craig is a current affairs TT style guy not straight news and morning TV. Reckon Rob is a bit stiff.
