Creative agencies vie for David Jones account

Retailer David Jones is to pitch its creative account less than three years after M&C Saatchi won the business from rival Saatchi & Saatchi.

The contract is due to expire in July . Seven agencies are in competition for the account, a spokeswoman for David Jones told Mumbrella.

M&C Saatchi worldwide chairman Tom Dery said in a statement: “There have been a number of management changes since we were appointed to the David Jones account three years ago and given the contract has come up for review it is totally understandable that this management team want to be certain that they are with the right partner.”

A David Jones spokeswoman said: “Seven creative agencies including M&C Saatchi will be invited to tender for the role over what is expected to be a three to six month process.”

The basis of the contract will be to provide David Jones with brand strategy support, advertising creative and TVC production.

The pitch is not the only major one in the retail sector. Myer has indicated that it will review its media later this year. Ikon currently holds the account.
