Sydney Dance Company campaigns to get funding for teen dancer

The Sydney Dance Company has launched a campaign fronted by  the company’s former principal dancer to raise funds for a talented teenager.

Holly Doyle, 19, has been identified by SDC’s artistic director Rafael Bonachela as a “unique talent” and a video message from former principal dancer of The Royal Ballet Darcey Bussell will be delivered on tablet devices to selected corporate sponsors, former benefactors and potential Sydney Dance Company donors.

The campaign was created by advertising agency The Works, and the first phase, included a video recorded by Bussell at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End calling for support for in her bid to secure the $100,000 funds needed for the inaugural scholarship program, A Year of the Wharf scholarship.

Douglas Nicol, creative partner and director at The Works said: “We were able to enlist Darcey Bussell, one of the world’s most recognised ballerinas, to share her experience of starting out and the similarities with Holly’s circumstances were striking. This is the first stage of a two phase campaign that we hope will keep Holly dancing for many years to come.”
