Cricket scandal fallout continues as LG discontinues Dave Warner sponsorship

Consumer electronics brand LG has confirmed it will not be renewing its sponsorship of the Australian cricket team’s vice captain, Dave Warner, as the fallout from last weekend’s ball tampering scandal grows.

In a media statement, an LG spokesperson said the brand had decided not renew its sponsorship of the award-winning player saying ” LG Australia will always look to work with ambassadors that share our core brand values.”

The news follows Sanitarium scrubbing all mentions of teammate, and former ‘Weet-Bix Kid’ brand ambassador, Steve Smith from its websites on Wednesday.

LG is the latest brand to express its displeasure over last weekend’s events which saw sportswear brand Skins taking out a full-page ad in the Syndey Morning Herald on Monday calling for Cricket Australia to take action.

Mumbrella has contacted Dave Warner’s management for comment.

LG’s statement follows:

LG’s current sponsorship of David Warner is in the final weeks and in light of recent events, we have decided not to renew our partnership. LG Australia will always look to work with ambassadors that share our core brand values and we take these relationships incredibly seriously to ensure we put our customers, employees and stakeholders first.
