Cross promotion. And sausages
It’s a sunny world for TV presenters who sometimes, it would seem, remain gloriously unaware of the commercial realities takign place the other side of the camera.
The whole cross promotion thing appears to have come as something of a shock to Weekend Sunrise presenter Andrew O’Keefe.

Best cross promotion they’ve done all summer! The French/German impersonation “Come on there’s a sausage party in there” beats any of their “after the tennis” work… Andrew O’Keefe for C.D!

I saw this and thought it was hilarious. Andrew O’Keefe really had a bit of a dig at the fact that the interview was part of a cross promotion, yet at the same time also made a joke about a ‘sausage party’ or something sexual (without being offensive).
It was great to see someone having a go at the fact that commercial interests were behind the reason for the interview. The audience are not idiots and it was nice to not be treated like an idiot. We are well aware when cross promotions are occurring.
I think we need more of this ‘tell it how it is’ style of television.
