Cummins & Partners Melbourne MD Tom Ward shifts into national strategy role
Cummins & Partners has shifted Melbourne managing director Tom Ward into the national chief strategy officer, a role that has been effectively left vacant since the departure of Adam Ferrier.
On his new role, Ward said: “It’s been incredibly rewarding and exciting to lead the flagship Melbourne office and drive growth across our integrated services model – and I’m really excited to go back to my planning roots and focus more closely on continuing to build the best, most integrated strategic offering in Australia.”
Ward has already made his first hire, appointing Lucy Cochran as strategy lead.
Cochran was most recently on a part-time contract with M&C Saatchi as strategic lead of the Melbourne office.
With Ward shifting into the strategy role, Cummins & Partners CEO Chris Jeffares will take on the day-to-day management of the Melbourne office, having also recently hired Dan Ingall as managing director of the agency’s Sydney operation.
The agency – which has clients including Coca-Cola, British Paints, Jeep and Tourism WA – has also promoted group business director Katie Firth to client services director.
Firth joined in 2015 after previous client leadership stints with CHE Proximity, TBWA and Publicis.
“It’s always exciting when you can promote from within to drive the agency forward and Tom and Firthy are brilliant operators. They have thrived at the agency because of the diversity of their skills and passion for clients and creativity,” Jeffares said.
Firth said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Tom and CJ on the management team to help build a best-in-class capability for our clients’ creative:media needs. C&P is one of the most innovative independent agencies in Australia with an amazing track record, a great bunch of talented people, and I look forward to working with the team to help take the business to the next level.”
All moves are effective immediately.
Awesome hire in Lucy, lucky Cummins & Partners!
