Daniel Ricciardo becomes Afterpay’s latest brand ambassador

Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has been announced as the new local ambassador for buy-now-pay-later provider Afterpay.

The announcement comes a couple of months after Australian actress Rebel Wilson fronted Afterpay’s global campaign.

Part of the partnership with Afterpay will see Ricciardo’s store become a merchant within Afterpay, with the buy-now-pay-later brand being the exclusive partner. Ricciardo is also a brand ambassador for Optus and Carsales, and starred in a campaign for Pernord Ricard’s St Hugo Wine, part of which involved a wine collaboration with the alcohol brand.

Afterpay co-founder and co-CEO, Nick Molnar, said: “Daniel is one of Australia’s most celebrated exports, his success and longevity on the track has made him easily recognisable, but it is his authenticity, drive, charisma and humble Aussie larrikin attitude that has amassed him such a loyal, adoring and engaged global fanbase, and this is what we were so impressed by.

“We were equally excited by what he is creating off-piste with his lifestyle clothing collection, which made this collaboration a no-brainer for us.”

Ricciardo said of the partnership: “I’m just excited to be partnering with such an amazing Australian-born company, what Afterpay has built already and what Nick and the team have planned is incredible. Seeing another Australian brand with similar values and goals as mine, succeeding in such a competitive field, really does put a smile on my face.”

Today, on the first day of Afterpay Day, Ricciardo will also be releasing a limited edition version of his 2021 mini helmet in his shop.
