David Kennedy-Cosgrove invests in The Wired Agency

Former managing partner of VCCP and group head at McCann, David Kennedy-Cosgrove, has invested in independent agency The Wired Agency, reaffirming his position as managing partner.

Kennedy-Cosgrove has been at the agency since February last year, working alongside managing director and founder, Angela Hampton and managing partner Michelle Hampton – who is also the founder and chairperson of Magnum & Co – on the directorial team. His acquisition of a stake in the business comes after the trio navigated the challenges COVID-19 presented to the agency.

Leveraging his experience working at VCCP, McCann, AMV BBDO and Havas London, Kennedy-Cosgrove will focus on the growth of the agency and bringing its philosophy of ‘Moving digitally, humanly’ into action across every aspect of the business.

“I started working with these brilliant ladies a year ago, just as the world began to stall. As the unimaginable unfolded, we used our creativity and purpose to help our clients thrive. This is what attracted me to invest, because today clients need and demand a different approach that only an independent like Wired offers,” he said.

“By investing, we’re building a team that gives them that; fast creative thinking informed by real-time insight, practitioners balancing long and short-term effectiveness, coupled with flexible comms planning and implementation. We’re taking this to as many clients as possible, wherever they are in the world.”

The Wired Agency offers services across content, social, search, placement and partnerships. Its client list includes Assembly Label, Chatime, Georg Jensen, Peppermayo, Pizza Hut, TEDx and Viking Cruises.

Angela Hampton said Kennedy-Cosgrove would bring valuable experience to the agency and its clients.

“Bringing on a new shareholder for an indie agency like ours is a big deal; very much like a marriage only perhaps more intense given how much time you spend with workmates,” she said.

“After meeting David for a casual chat, it became very clear, very early on, his experience would prove incredibly valuable to the agency. We’re lucky he is a great guy too; there’s an exciting energy brewing at Wired and that purple patch we’re experiencing, only continues to grow.

“We’ve achieved some insanely good results for our clients over the years, and what David brings to the agency means we can become even more strategic; placing creative thinking smack bang in the centre of everything we do.”
