DDB global CEO Alex Lubar departs
Alex Lubar
DDB Worldwide global chief executive Alex Lubar has left the network as holding company Omnicom moves closer to completing its US$13.5 billion acquisition of IPG.
Lubar, who has led DDB globally since October 2022, updated his Linkedin to announce his new role as CEO of New York brand consultancy Fundamentalco.
In his post, Lubar, who previously ran McCann in London and North America before joining DDB, described Fundamentalco as “a truly unique operation that understands the power of brand-led value creation”.
“Thank you to the unbelievable DDB community across the globe that I had the privilege of leading these last two years. Your creative genius is only outmatched by your collective grace,” he wrote.
A spokesperson for DDB said in a statement: “We can confirm that global DDB CEO, Alex Lubar, is departing the business to take up a consultancy role. While this marks a significant change, any further structural or leadership changes remain unconfirmed at this time.
“We value Alex’s significant contribution to the network and wish him well. Throughout this process, we remain firmly committed to delivering the best-in-market service to our clients and support for our people.”

Lubar’s departure comes amid widespread speculation that the DDB brand may be retired once the Omnicom–IPG deal is finalised.
The rumours originated from a brief, four-paragraph story published on October 24 by Miami-based Spanish-language trade site Produ, which claimed the agreement included “a historic decision: the dissolution of the DDB network, one of the most influential brands in the history of modern creative advertising”.
The article contained no citations or sources, but went viral on LinkedIn the following week and was subsequently picked up by international media.
Omnicom has not commented on reports of DDB’s retirement.
