DDB Sydney’s managing partner Chiquita King set to join 6AM Agency as CEO

The 6AM Agency has hired DDB Sydney’s managing partner, Chiquita King, as its CEO and partner.

King is replacing Adam Washington, who left the agency as CEO in June after just seven months in the role.

King will commence her new role in February 2019

Washington’s departure was the first in a slew of exits for the agency, with its ECD Nitin Mistry and social head Sarah Bell quitting one month later.

King joins the agency after spending three years at DDB Sydney. Prior to her stint at DDB, King was a group head at M&C Saatchi.

Throughout her career she has also spent time at Leo Burnett and Lavender.

King said in a statement: “Being a recent graduate of The Marketing Academy has been a big catalyst for reflection and fuelled my desire to make my own mark on an industry I love. As a partner and shareholder, 6AM has given me an opportunity to do just that.

“I will wrap my arms around different challenges and grow the agency beyond its very respected owned and earned heritage.”

The 6AM Agency rebranded from Brand New Solutions when the former COO of STW Communications and founder of Ogilvy PR Australia Chris Savage took a stake in November 2016.

Gillian Fish, founder of The 6AM Agency, said King has a track record in understanding the challenges clients face.

“Coupled with a passion for building high performing teams, brings to 6AM an outstanding partner and leader who will take the agency on the next stage of growth.”
