Deluxe acquires Hong Kong-based VFX house

The Deluxe Entertainment Services Group has acquired the post production house responsible for Quentin Tarrantino’s Kill Bill and Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle.

The purchase of Centro Digital Pictures, based in Hong Kong, will be integrated into Deluxe Australia’s post, animation and distribution businesses.

Deluxe suggests the acquisition will provide a gateway for Deluxe’s international customers looking to partner with Hong Kong and Chinese filmmakers.

John Chu, general manager of Centro said: We are very excite about the new opportunities for Centro as we join Deluxe’s global organisation. We have a common commitment to delivering the highest possible quality of customer experience.”

Alaric McAusland, managing director of Deluxe Australia said: ” As one of the pioneers of digital post production, animation and visual effects in Hong Kong, Centro has brought tougher a tremendously talented team over the past twenty years to support the Chinese and Hong Kong filmmakers working in the region.”

Chu will continue as general manager, reporting to McAusland.
