Dentsu Aegis Network brings Patrick Darcy on board as chief data and technology officer

Henry Tajer’s hiring and firing spree at holding group Denstu Aegis Network (DAN) has continued, with Patrick Darcy, currently CEO of IPG Mediabrands’ advertising technology division, Cadreon, set to come on board as chief data and technology officer.

Tajer said the role is crucial to the business, and Darcy will make DAN stronger.

Darcy and Tajer both worked at IPG Mediabrands

“This is a crucial role for our business. Patrick’s strong platform, partnerships experience and market reputation positions him to make a real impact on our clients and our team,” Tajer, the CEO of DAN, said. “We are all very excited about Patrick becoming the latest member of the Dentsu ANZ team – he will make us stronger.”

Darcy spent time as head of programmatic at Nine’s digital arm Mi9 in 2013, before shifting to Radium One as its first APAC commercial director.

A couple of years later, he joined IPG Mediabrands’ Cadreon as managing director, before being elevated to CEO earlier this year.

While Darcy was at Cadreon, Tajer was global CEO of IPG Mediabrands, as well as executive chairman of its local arm.

Darcy begins his role with DAN in December, and said he’s excited to get started.

“DAN has a unique set of assets spanning all areas of the marketing ecosystem and a clear vision for how they work together to deliver growth for clients,” he said. “Data and technology sit at the heart of this, and I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team at such a pivotal moment for the network.”

Darcy’s appointment is the latest in a number of notable shake-ups for DAN, as Tajer rebuilds the holding group.

A number of high-level operators have departed, while executives such as Sue Squillace (now CEO of media agency Carat) and Michael Bass (now chief investment officer of Amplifi) have joined the fold.
