Diageo appoints Ikon and Profero

A month after incumbent Mindshare said “Thanks, but no thanks,” Diageo has handed its media business to Ikon Communications.

The win completes an excellent 2010 for Ikon which earlier this month was named B&T’s media agency of the year.

The handover from Mindshare to Ikon will take place in February. Digital agency Profero has also been added to the roster.

Diageo Australia’s marketing director John Green, said: “We are very excited to work with Ikon Communications in the New Year. The team possesses capabilities that are well aligned with our communications objectives and their support will help to ensure the future success of our brands,”

Diageo brands include Johnnie Walker, Bundaberg, Smirnoff, Baileys and Guinness.

Diageo’s hunt for a second creative agency alongside Leo Burnett is still underway.
