Richardson: Returning to Australia

She joined UM Worldwide New York in November 2015 after previously being executive director at Starcom.

Richardson was part of a phalanx of Aussies brought to New York when Henry Tajer took the IPG Mediabrands global CEO role.  Tajer was abruptly ousted in May, with most of the team he brought with him to north America also having since left the company

She is set to start her new role at OMD in February next year.

Richardson is replacing OMD Melbourne’s previous managing director, Margie Reid, who departed the role in September after 11 years and was shortly afterwards hired as creative agency Thinkerbell’s first managing director.

Richardson said in a statement: “It was clear to me through every conversation that OMD is an agency that walk the talk with integrity and have a real focus on creating a thriving agency culture.

“I’m really looking forward to leading the OMD Melbourne team to further unlock great opportunities for client success. And of course, it’s so exciting to be returning home to Melbourne,” Richardson said.

OMD’s CEO Aimee Buchanan, said Richardson will bring a “wealth” of global experience and knowledge to the agency.

“I was immediately impressed with Dianne’s passion for growing client businesses and I know she will be a great cultural fit for our business,” the CEO added.
