Emma Robbins appointed M+C Saatchi CCO as Steve Coll steps down

M+C Saatchi ANZ’s creative leadership has changed hands as group chief creative officer Steve Coll steps down after two years.

Coll’s resignation, which Mumbrella understands took place last week, has paved the way for the promotion of the agency’s recently promoted Melbourne creative lead Emma Robbins.

Robbins, who has been with M+C Saatchi ANZ for over seven years, will now hold the role of group chief creative officer for M+C Saatchi ANZ, expanding her existing role as Melbourne CCO.

She first joined the M+C Saatchi Melbourne as executive creative director before her promotion in August this year.

During that time, she oversaw campaigns for Commonwealth Bank’s “Doubt Never Did”, the Minderoo Foundation’s Plastic Forecast, Lifeblood and ART Super.

“The industry is shapeshifting in every which way, which is what makes this such an exciting time to step into the role,” she said in a statement. “There are challenges and opportunities everywhere, and we’re all totally up for it. We’ve got the leadership, talent, and energy to meet them head-on and keep creating work for our clients that’s powerful in culture and full of meaning and creativity”

Robbins’ predecessor Coll, meanwhile, joined the agency two years ago after four years at Meta with “a brief to help the agency transition to a new era”.

This included creating a “newly restructured and integrated team”, making new creative hires and recently nabbing Thinkerbell’s Louise Rutherford as client partner.

“Now, with the agency increasingly set up to produce more integrated and culturally powerful work, it felt like a good time to move on to a fresh challenge,” he added.

In a statement, M+C Saatchi ANZ CEO Dani Bassil thanked Coll, adding: “Emma is one of a kind. I’ve been blown away by just how incredible and talented she is. She is adored by the creative community and clients alike. I just cannot think of anyone better to lead this agency into the future, and I’m delighted she agreed to step into the role.”
