Domain reintroduces CMO role following departure of Jason Chuck

Nine Entertainment Co-owned real estate outfit Domain has appointed Rebecca Darley as chief marketing officer, effective from 7 February 2022, which marks the reintroduction of the role for the real estate platform.

Darley will be taking over for Jason Chuck, who was appointed chief consumer officer in April 2019. Some of Chuck’s responsibilities included those of Melina Cruickshank, Domain’s most recent CMO, who departed back in December 2018 to rival REA Group.

Darley joins Domain from CommSec, where she had held the title of general manager, business strategy & marketing since December 2019. Darley has held senior marketing roles at Westpac Group, Westpac Group’s St George Bank and Ikea. Darley is also a board director at UnLtd.

In the role at Domain, Darley will be responsible for leading Domain’s marketing division spanning consumer and trade marketing, creative, digital, content, publishing, communications and PR.

On her new role, Darley said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Domain at a time of significant digital innovation and growth. Harnessing data, innovation and some of the most exceptional talent in the industry to deliver value for the 9.6 million Australians that rely on Domain to inspire confidence for all of life’s property decisions creates new and exciting opportunities to take Domain’s presence in the market to the next level.”

Domain managing director & CEO Jason Pellegrino commented: “Rebecca is an experienced senior executive who will be a strong addition to the Domain leadership group. The role of Chief Marketing Officer reflects the strategic importance and growth potential of our unique offerings like off market listings and app features, ensuring Domain continues to deliver value and do more for our customers at every stage of their property journey, and is another step forward in our Marketplace model where our solutions work better together. I look forward to working with Rebecca and the Domain Marketing team to bring these to life for consumers, agents and organisations.”

Other recent hires at Domain include John Foong as chief revenue officer announced last month.

Chuck, whose responsibilities Darley is taking on, departed Domain in September, according to his LinkedIn, and is now chief commercial officer at startup Hireup, an online platform for people with disability to find, hire and manage their own support workers.

Domain Holdings Australia Limited (DHG) has delivered its results for the 2021 Financial Year, revealing a significant boost in net profit after tax, which grew 66% to $34.3 million year-on-year.
