Domino’s CEO to defend derided ‘game changing’ campaign on Facebook
The embattled CEO of Domino’s will this evening take to Facebook to defend his “game changing” teaser campaign.
Don Meij is offering to ask “any ” questions between 6pm and 7pm Eastern.
His appearance comes 48 hours after the unveiling of a new range of pizzas resulted in a social media backlash because the brand had been promising for several days that it had a huge announcement to make.
The backlash has since crossed over from social media to mainstream media coverage including tiop story on the SMH and on Seven’s Sunrise.
Is this strategy based on the principle that there’s no such thing as bad publicity? At least they got people talking.

An admirable gesture to host a Q&A but I have a feeling it could turn into a massive car crash, especially if he’s offering to answer ‘any’ question. Premium toppings may not get a look in next to questions about CSR, child obesity, etc…and if you moderate too heavily it’ll become apparent and that’ll bite them on the arse too!

Sad that people were on the edge of their seats for Pizza!! Shows that a lot of people really need to get a life.

Way too much ego for me.
Really, he should go back to his office & focus on his spreadsheets.
He’s not helping the brand here……

Starring in an episode of “Undercover Boss” just wasn’t enough for Don.
Maybe a role in the next “Underbelly?”

I’m interested in the ‘backlash’.
Being able to “comment’ so widely is always about sales.
Does an emotional outpouring of grief, shock and and anger over pizza promises,on ‘social networks’ translate into LESS sales or MORE sales?
That’s the only question. Food for thought as clients tremble.
