Domino’s to give away another 20,000 free pizzas after previous attempt ended in social media backlash

Domino’s has announced it will give away 20,000 free pizzas in four seperate giveaways on its Facebook page from today.

The competition follows a previous giveaway of 10,001 pizzas which saw the competition platform collapsing from the traffic, resulting in a social media backlash.

After the original backlash, Domino’s posted the following apology to its Facebook page.

Domino’s confirmed to Mumbrella it will be using the same Facebook competition platform – Woobox – for its new giveaway.

Addressing the previous tech fail, Nick Knight, Domino’s ANZ CEO said: “We know that pizza lovers across Australia are very passionate and anytime we do giveaways of this nature it results in an overwhelming response.

“We can assure you we have put the correct measures in place to ensure 5,000 lucky pizza fans can take advantage of the offer, but pizza lovers be warned because it will be first in, best dressed – or best fed in this case. With more than one million fans, we expect the free pizzas will be snapped up fast, but we are ready to cater for the expected hungry pizza fans!”

The giveaway will run on the Domino’s Australia Facebook page from today, September 18, and will give customers the chance to win products from its new Quality Fresh range.

“September is a huge month for us with some big events on the calendar including two footy grand finals, long weekends, school holidays and the launch of the next phase of our Quality Fresh range including two premium pizzas and new sides,” Knight added.
