Donald Trump launches global TV streaming service
Donald Trump has launched a global television streaming platform, Truth+, in partnership with conservative news network Newsmax.
The platform is available through iOS and Android apps, as well as through Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire, and Roku connected TVs.
Trump Media describes the service as containing “family-friendly live TV channels and on-demand content”. One of these live channels will be the flagship Newsmax channel, a deal the conservative news network said will “greatly contribute” to its “ongoing international expansion efforts.” The app store lists Truth+ as a place “where you can watch the news you trust and shows and movies that Big Media has tried to blacklist.”
Trump Media’s CEO and chairman Devin Nunes said: “There is clearly a need globally for fresh perspectives on the great issues of our day, and we’re laying the groundwork to challenge the woke news monolith with hard-hitting, non-woke reporting and commentary.”
Nunes said Trump Media is “gratified by the fast introduction of Truth+ to international markets” and will soon roll out across all remaining devices and operating systems, including LG and Samsung connected TVs.
Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy praised Nunes for doing “a remarkable job growing Truth Social and now Truth+ in the US”
“It’s only natural they would grow globally and we’re proud to partner with him and Trump Media on this expansion.”
Last December, Australian Digital Holdings, a conservative online broadcaster launched in 2021, announced it would be launching the Newsmax brand in Australia this year. The company hit a roadblock in May, when it failed to acquire a number of regional TV licenses from Southern Cross Austereo, who instead sold the channels to Seven.
Mumbrella has contacted ADH to see how the Truth+ deal impacts their launch plans. The newsmax.com.au URL promises the station will still arrive in 2025 – and will be “honest, authentic, and uncensored.”
Trump Media’s next big launch of Truth.Fi, a financial services and FinTech brand “incorporating America First investment vehicles.”
