Doug Anthony Allstars to return to ABC for documentary series
The ABC is set to air a two-part factual series on The Doug Anthony Allstars, a comedy music trio comprised of Paul McDermott, Richard Fidler and Tim Ferguson.
Tick F***ing Tock will reveal the story of the three original comedians, why they broke up and dealing with Ferguson’s illness, multiple sclerosis. It also features Paul Livingston, who in 2014 replaced Fidler on guitar.
It will be curated by Ted Robinson, the man who gave the Allstars their first break on TV show The Big Gig.
Two of the Doug Anthony All Stars trio are currently employed by the ABC. McDermott hosts ABC TV’s Think Tank, which has been described as ‘a quiz show with a difference’, while Fidler hosts a daily radio interview program. In 2016, Ferguson discussed his struggle with multiple sclerosis on Fidler’s program.
The documentary comes the same year as an apology from the group over a 1990s harassment campaign against News Corp journalist Candace Sutton.
Ticking F***king Tock is a GNW TV production, produced by Robinson and Anna Cater.
I loved this 2 part documentary about The DAAS. Please don’t stop there. Continue their story, as it seems a real pity that they WASTED 12 long years before knowing that Tim had MS. They mustn’t have kept in contact with one another due to foolish egos perhaps? (that only the young seem to know so well). Getting old is a blessing, as one becomes more mellow – but horrible because one is then too old.
I am now almost 80 years old and just loved them on The Big Gig. I didn’t know about their great success overseas. Wonderful voices and harmony. The comedy may have been a bit over the top for me – but laughed just the same. Loved them and I send them all my love and best wishes. I do want to see them again on TV. Can’t go to any of their shows as I am too old to travel. More on ABC please.
