DR MUMBO: Fairfax comedian Brian McCarthy on the Bondi shark attack
The problem with live blogging is that your dumb quips are with the world in seconds, as Fairfax CEO Brian McCarthy will have just discovered.
Dr Mumbo has been following Stilgherrian’s live blog from the Fairfax-supported Media 08 conference in Sydney this morning. And Fairfax CEO Brian MCarthy has already put his foot in it, following last night’s shark attack in Bondi in which a surfer lost an arm. A few moment ago, McCarthy told the audience:
“There is no doubt a hunger for news, a hunger for relevance, a hunger for engagement and understanding. There was also a bit of hunger at Bondi Beach last night, so overseas visitors don’t go swimming.”
As blogger Stilgherrian puts it: “FFS, Brian, that was TASTELESS!”
