DR MUMBO: SMH struggles with the past; Virgin revels in the past, fake Conroy rides again

Today’s Strewth column in The Australian points to an excellent correction in the SMH yesterday admitting a photograph of John Lennon was taken in 1968, not 1981 as it stated. Which would have been good, as he died the previous year.

And it looks like there’s a pattern emerging. Today’s edition of the SMH admits that a photo  of Circular Quay it published yesterday was taken in 1932 rather than 1972 as it had said.

Perhaps the remaining SMH subs should turn to their competitors at the Daily Telegraph for advice on publishing up to date info.

Meanwhile, the Virgin airline has no such problem looking back 25 years. This spot marks its 25th birthday. (Spotter: Brand DNA)

And the anti-clean feed Fake Stephen Conroy has leapt back into life on Twitter, Dr Mumbo can report. Today’s moment of zen from our alternative broadband minister is this:

“Fear mongers say Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) is a form of electronic rape. It’s not. It’s utterly benign; like a camera in your bathroom.”
