East Coast Car Rentals sets up national music initiative for grassroots artists, via Seven Communications

East Coast Car Rentals and Seven Communications has launched a campaign giving emerging musicians a chance to tour and perform across Australia.

The announcement:

East Coast Car Rentals (ECCR), in partnership with Seven Communications, is giving Australia’s undiscovered music talent more than just a ride, it’s giving them a road to recognition. Titled ‘I’m With the Band’, the campaign is turning ECCR’s fleet into a national stage for local musicians.

Built on a simple truth – you can’t tour without transport – the first-of-its-kind campaign offers grassroots artists the chance to hit the road, connect with communities, and perform across the country. Buskers are invited to enter a competition that will give selected artists a national platform to advance their careers.

Developed and delivered in partnership with Seven Communications, the campaign includes live roadside sets through a video content series, to an ECCR-curated road trip playlist, the initiative will deliver both exposure for local artists and a more culturally rich, community-driven travel experience for Australians.

According to new research commissioned by ECCR, live music is deeply tied to the travel experience for Australians. A remarkable 73% of Aussies say that discovering local arts and music, including buskers, is a key part of their road trip experience. Over half (53%) say they’d even plan their travel around towns known for live music, while 77% would stop and explore a place if they heard live music or spotted a street performance.

Ben Whitmore, CMO at East Coast Car Rentals, says, “There’s something special about live music on a road trip, it turns everyday stops into something unforgettable – we know music is a big part of what makes the journey special for our customers.”

“Buskers bring that grassroots feel and authenticity that makes travel more meaningful and this campaign is about giving local artists keys to the country and their careers, helping to remove some of the barriers they face while also providing new artists to an Aussie public who are angling to know the best emerging, local talent. We started small. We know what it means to get your break, this is our way of helping more artists hit the road and be heard.”

Patrice Pandeleos, managing director of Seven Communications, says, “This campaign with East Coast Car Rentals is a great example of how PR can turn a brand into a cultural connector. We’re giving buskers – often overlooked but incredibly talented – a national platform to be seen and heard. It’s about sparking real moments of connection through live music and helping Australians rediscover the joy of grassroots performance, one road trip at a time.”

ECCR and Seven Communications are calling on grassroots Aussie musical talents to register to be part of this initiative and have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent to a wider and engaged audience. The total prize pool is valued at up to AUD $15,500. The winner will receive $12,000 in cash and publicity to boost their career. Two runners-up will each take home AUD $500, while the remaining top five finalists will receive a AUD $500 car rental voucher.

‘I’m with the band’ taps into ECCR’s own story. From humble beginnings on the Gold Coast to becoming one of Australia’s most trusted independent car rental providers with 14 sites, East Coast Car Rentals understands the power of backing local and building community from the ground up.
