eBay appoints David Odgers as sales boss

David Odgers has been appointed to the newly created role of advertising director at online retail site eBay.

The announcement:

eBay announced today the appointment of David Odgers to the newly created Advertising Director role.

David brings to eBay almost 15 years of experience in the retail sector working on brands including Mars Australia, Telstra and Vodafone as a consultant at Bain and Company, and most recently, at leading travel retailer The Nuance Group, where he led the Sydney Airport Tax and Duty Free business.

Also recently joining eBay’s advertising team are experienced professionals Chrissy Griffin from Sensis Media and Nicholas Ong from 9msn.

The eBay advertising team currently consists of eight people, with plans to further expand into 2011 reflecting the growing demand among advertisers to take advantage of eBay as a publisher.

The growth reflects the realization among advertisers that eBay’s position as the leading online marketplace, with a highly engaged 5.8 million Australian visitors a month[1], provides a compelling online opportunity.
