Eddie McGuire’s Hot Seat sneaks into the top 15
Eddie McGuire game show Hot Seat made a rare visit to the most watched 15 shows for the day on Thursday thanks in part to split national schedules from the networks.
Nine’s Hot Seat – a stripped back version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – attracted an audience of 728,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam. This was just ahead of 5.30pm rival show Deal Or No Deal on Seven, which pulled in 703,000.
Only seven shows pulled in average audiences of more than a million on Thursday night.
Top of the heap was Ten’s Masterchef, with nearly 1.8m viewers.
Part of the reason for the low ratings for individual shows was a split schedule. The NRL-focused Matty Johns Show on Seven squeezed into the top 15 in Sydney and Brisbane. But in other states, Seven’s The Vicar of Dibley special rated far better – second in Adelaide, fourth in Perth, and ninth in Melbourne.
Similarly, Ten’s Thursday Night AFL was not on in all states. It did best in Melbourne where it was seventh for the night.
