Emirates signs ad deal with Optus in lead up to World Cup

Emirates has signed an advertising deal with Optus to advertise alongside the telco’s Soccer World Cup coverage in what is being described as “one of the largest mobile deals in Australian marketing history”.

The airline, which is a FIFA partner, will launch a six week campaign across Optus Zoo and the iZoo platforms where there will be real-time and exclusive World Cup content, updates and overnight news available to Australian-based fans.

Brokered in conjunction with Emirates’ agency Big Mobile, the deal involves sponsorship placements on the Optus World Cup website and FIFA mobile portal and pre-roll ads on video-on-demand.

The campaign will also run on Big Mobile’s partner mobile sites including News.com.au, Planet 3 and Vodafone Live.

Jeremiah de la Cruz, Optus GM data products, said: “This is the first time Optus Media has offered this kind of sponsorship opportunity to advertisers and we are delighted Emirates has partnered with us in one of the largest mobile deals in Australian marketing history.”
