Enigma CD Jamie Lewis named ‘Kickass Original Filmmaker’ at LA Comedy Festival
Jamie Lewis, creative director at Newcastle agency Enigma, has been named ‘Kickass Original Filmmaker’ at the LA Comedy Festival for his film Mikey’s Extreme Romance. Lewis produced, directed and starred in the film.
The LA Comedy Festival is the largest comedy festival in the US, and features film, live comedy acts and a screenplay competition.
“I was nervous our Australian humour wouldn’t translate to an American audience but they but they completely got it,” said Lewis. “There were parts where the audience was gasping and then they all clapped mid-way through and at the end too, which was awesome.”
He added: “In adland, we make beautiful, highly polished ads. Using a video diary format, which is as raw and intimate as you can get, was a refreshing departure from that.”
Lewis is now looking for a distributor for the film, so the full length version is not yet publically available.
Recent commercials Lewis has produced for Enigma include ads for TAFE (the Australian Technical and Further Education), which features actress Maya Kumar who also stars in the film, McDonald Jones Homes, Landcom Sanctuary Living and Newcastle Herald.
