Esquire’s editor-in-chief departs
Esquire Australia’s editor-in-chief Christopher Riley is leaving the publication, with a new leadership structure to be implemented.
Riley has helmed the publication since its relaunch in Australia by Switzer Media in March, 2023, during which time he reinforced the magazine’s position “as a leading voice in men’s lifestyle and culture”, according to publisher Alex Switzer.
He is leaving the company to return to the UK, for personal reasons.
“When we secured the publishing rights for Esquire in this region, we did so with a vision of upholding the brand’s legacy of setting the highest editorial and creative standards,” said Switzer.
“Christopher has been instrumental in bringing that vision to life. While we will miss his contributions across the Esquire brand, we fully support his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
Riley calls editing Esquire Australia “one of my greatest privileges”, adding: “I was able to implement a vision that, I hope, leaves an imprint in this country. I’ll miss the company, the culture of excellence we were able to create and, most importantly, the people.
“Resigning comes with a heavy heart but I look forward to following the team’s success in the future.”
The existing editorial and commercial teams will continue to operate under the current structure while a new editor-in-chief is appointed.
Switzer will be making an announcement regarding the new leadership structure in the coming weeks.
