Essencemediacom wins Australian Retirement Trust media pitch
Australian Retirement Trust’s media account has returned to Essencemediacom, following the sunsetting of incumbent Bohemia.
The Brisbane office has picked up the superannuation fund following a competitive pitch process. The appointment was effective July 1.
Australian Retirement Trust was formed through the merger of Sunsuper and Qsuper, and now manages over $330 billion in retirement savings for 2.4 million Australians, according to a release.
Essencemediacom Brisbane previously managed the account for Sunsuper, while OMD held Qsuper. In 2020, the combined pitch was won by Essencemediacom.
Then by early 2023, it had changed hands to M+C Saatchi’s Bohemia. The media agency held the account for the past two years, until last month when it was retired as part of a global media strategy restructure.
Bohemia no longer met the criteria M+C Saatchi had to “lead with a truly differentiated offering”. Other clients that have moved in the past month include Nando’s and Fever-Tree Australia.
Of the win, Essencemediacom Brisbane’s managing director, Susan Lyons, said: “Our team is passionate about delivering breakthrough ideas and harnessing the power of data to drive real growth for ART in an increasingly competitive landscape.
“ART is a brand we strongly admire. Our shared belief in the impact of creativity in advertising makes us incredibly excited about the breakthrough work that we can create together,” she said in the release.
The agency impressed the brand with its “strategic vision, digital expertise, and deep understanding of the superannuation landscape”, according to Rob Harris, general manager of brand, marketing, and comms at Australian Retirement Trust.
“We’re excited to partner with them once again to deliver innovative, data-led media solutions that will help us reach and engage more Australians on their retirement journey.,” he said of the appointment.
Australian Retirement Trust is the latest win for Essencemediacom’s Brisbane team, having also recently picked up Specsavers and Warner Bros Discovery.
