Because every story needs a Pokemon angle
Twenty four hours can be a long time in journalism.
Take Sydney’s fine tabloid masthead the Telegraph.
Saturday saw The Daily Telegraph censured by the press watchdog for using misleading headlines.
Today, we see this dramatic headline – “Woman dies in Pokemon hit and run” – on page three of The Sunday Telegraph:
Followed by this, halfway through the story: “The woman and her friend had been playing Pokemon earlier in the night but their phones were in their pockets at the time of the crash.”
Not what you expected from the headline was it?
WOMAN DIES FROM BREATHING AIR.
The woman and her friend were seen earlier in the night breathing air. Experts have issued a warning about what may be a dangerous practice.

Absolutely disgraceful, especially for family and friends of the poor girl who tragically lost her life. As at 1 August 12:47pm, news.com.au homepage still has the headline ‘woman killed while out playing Pokemon Go’ and her picture.
