Ex-APN Outdoor boss James Warburton enters ‘new phase’ with consultancy business

Ex-APN Outdoor and Ten boss James Warburton has set up his own consultancy business and is taking on private equity clients.

Warburton is currently working with CVC Limited and Alceon Group on a number of existing investments, as well as looking at new opportunities.

Warburton said the business is a “new phase” of his career.

“I have always been drawn to work that is transformative and, in many cases, requires a turnaround with a focus on sales and marketing,” said Warburton.

“It is a new phase of my career and I look forward to working with my new business partners on compelling investment opportunities.”

Warburton left APN Outdoor after the acquisition by JC Decaux in 2018. He had been CEO of the company for 10 months.

He joined the outdoor company after four years as CEO at V8 Supercars.

Alongside his consultancy business, Warburton will be returning to the motoring world, joining the board of Australian Racing Group (ARG) as a non-executive director.

“I’m excited about getting involved with ARG as it brings together my passion for motorsport, media, events and business,” said Warburton.

ARG executive chairman John McMellan said the company was thrilled to welcome Warburton to the role.

“It is very pleasing to have someone of the profile, experience and capability of James join the ARG board,” said McMellan.

“His appointment endorses the future plans for the business and James will be integral in assisting and guided the delivery of those plans over the coming years.”
