Droga5 restructure sees Gohil promoted to CEO, ex-Clems ECD Mike Spirkovski joins as CD

Former Clemenger BBDO joint-ECD Mike Spirkovski has joined Droga5.

Spirkovski, who departed Clems last October, joins the creative department he has spent some time consulting to in the past. He will be a creative director on Woolworths.

The news comes as the agency announced the promotion of executive planning director Sudeep Gohil to CEO.

Gohil will line up in a management team including creative chairman David Nobay and MD Marianne Bess.

Deputy planning director Justin Graham will replace Gohil as head of planning.

Nobay said in a statement: I was instrumental in bringing Sudeep out from the US to Saatchi’s because I recognised even then that he was so much more than simply a world class Planning Director. It was clear he shared my frustrations about the diminishing role of marketing within the larger business context and was equally excited about what was possible. Since then, he’s done a fantastic job of building one of the most senior and respected planning departments in the region. So, now it’s time to focus that big brain of his on helping me shape the company into something that truly reflects our brand’s vision for the future.”

Spirkovski, a former Leo Burnett and Publicis Mojo creative, formed a joint ECD partnership with Paul Nagy in May 2010, replacing Richard Maddocks.

The restructure comes off the back of run of good fortune for Droga5, which has picked up Woolworths, ING Direct and made the shortlist for Qantas.
