Facebook hires former Havas, Droga5 and With Collective CCO Steve Coll to lead its Creative Shop

The man who has been ECD of Havas and Droga5 , as well as creative partner at With Collective – Steve Coll – is moving away from traditional agency roles and joining Facebook.

Coll joins the social media giant to head up its Creative Shop offering which is tasked with helping marketers and agencies use its platforms and tools “in efficient, innovative, and increasingly more creative ways”.

Coll is leaving agency life

“The Creative Shop collaborates with marketers and agencies to create campaigns that best utilise Facebook and Instagram’s social environments, enabling brands big and small to connect with people around the world and grow their businesses on Facebook,” the company said.

Coll was creative group head at Leo Burnett in Sydney, before moving to AMV BBDO In London. He returned to Sydney for a role as executive creative director at Havas, and then had stints as ECD of ADMA and Droga5. He joined With Collective as creative partner in August 2015.

Facebook’s managing director, Will Easton, said he couldn’t be more excited for someone of Coll’s calibre to be joining Facebook.

“He is a key contributor to the wider industry and has an infectious enthusiasm about how technology and creativity can co-exist to deliver meaningful outcomes. With the pace and scale of innovation there has never been a more important time for Facebook to collaborate with our creative community,” he said.

Coll said: “It’s rare to get an opportunity to do something completely different at work. So naturally, after 20-plus years in creative agencies, including a wonderful four years at With Collective, I’m incredibly excited to join Facebook. I can’t wait to start work with Will and the team.”
