Fairfax Media appoints Penny Kaleta to lead regional sales operation

Fairfax Media’s rural and regional publishing business, Australian Community Media (ACM), has promoted Penny Kaleta to national sales director.

The former sales director at ACM joined Fairfax Media in 2005 as national travel sales manager, before moving her way up the ranks to group sales director in 2013.

Prior to her 12 year stint at Fairfax, Kaleta was a sales executive at Buck Free Press for four years.

Kaleta is replacing Ian Thomson, who has retired from the role, while former sales lead Sharon Fitter will replace Kaleta in the local sales director role.

“My key focus will be on building sustainable growth through product and relationships.

“It is my privilege to lead a team of diverse and frankly wonderful media sales professionals who are subject matter experts across regional and rural Australia,” Kaleta said in a statement.

Kaleta will report to Rodney House who is ACM’s commercial director.
