Fairfax Media investigates cold case in new podcast series

Fairfax Media has launched a new investigative podcast series, Wrong Skin.

The six part series, which has been produced by the same team behind Phoebe’s Fall,  investigates the cold case of Julie Buck and her boyfriend, Richard Milgin, who vanished from a remote Aboriginal community in 1994. The WA Police have now launched a new investigation.

Wrong Skin will run for two weeks

Wrong Skin will run over two weeks from July 15.

Richard Baker, Walkley-award winning investigative journalist at The Age, told Mumbrella it was the most compelling story he had worked on in his 20 years experience, noting it was important to tell.

“What I love most is the podcast allowing voices we rarely hear in mainstream media to have a presence and, in particular, women speak up about how they have been treated,” Baker said.

Sydney Morning Herald editor, Lisa Davies, said it was the first time anyone had ever heard the story.

“If this happened in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth – we’d all know about. We’d all be covering it,” Davies said.

“But this is first time we’ve ever heard of this story. It’s a really important story for Australians to hear.”

The podcast team:

  • Richard Baker – Investigative journalist
  •  Greg Muller – Executive Producer
  •  Rachael Dexter, Tim Young – Producers
  •  Tom McKendrick – Head of Video / Audio
  •  Dr Siobhan McHugh – Consultant
