Fairfax’s Liz Ross joins Freeview as GM

Fairfax trade marketing and insights director Liz Ross, who was reported to leave the company after a six-year spell in June, is set to join TV marketing body Freeview as general manager.

She starts in October.

The news follows the resignation of Robin Parkes, Freeview’s first CEO, announced in May.

Prior to Fairfax, Ross spent six years at News Ltd as integration director and also media marketing manager.

She has also had stints agencies such as Bray Media, AIS Media, Mitchell & Partners, Leo Burnett and Shipley & Ryan.

Freeview chairman Kim Dalton said of the departing Parkes: “After three successful years at Freeview, Robin feels it is time to seek a new challenge. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding job Robin has done in taking Freeview from an idea and an aspiration to the established and acknowledged consumer and industry brand and operation that it is today.”

“The strength and success of the free-to-air platform today is in part as a result of Robin’s work with Freeview. Robin has made an immense contribution to changing the television landscape in Australia.”
