Fenton Stephens releases first work for iSelect since winning account from The Royals

Independent Melbourne-based agency Fenton Stephens has launched its first work for iSelect since winning the account from The Royals in August.

The campaign introduces Australians to a new character, the ‘billusionist’, which aims to reiterate the brand’s sense of humour.

Both 30-second spots feature the ‘billusionist’, an illusionist but with bills, transforming household bills into smaller ones.

The ‘billusionist’ makes regular bills appear in a smaller form as people pull them out of a mandarin and rabbit.

Actor Jason Montgomery plays the billusionist character.

Alex Fenton, creative director at Fenton Stephens, said in a statement: “We set out to create a differentiated platform the iSelect brand could build upon. It’s a blindingly simple premise: we take your bills and reduce them. Oh, and there’s this guy who magically appears in your lounge room.”

The consumer comparison site overhauled its marketing when it appointed Warren Hebard as its chief marketing officer in April.

Three months later iSelect moved its creative account from The Royals, despite only appointing the creative agency to the account less than 12 months ago.

Hebard added: “Since joining the business six months ago we’ve undertaken a strategic review of the marketing function at iSelect. With a clear focus on significantly improving the ROI from our marketing spend, the launch of this campaign is a very exciting next step in this process and sees a return to iSelect’s original brand positioning and tone of voice.”

The campaign is running across TV, radio, digital and social.
