Final inspection episode of The Block helps Nine win Tuesday night’s ratings

The penultimate episode of Nine’s The Block helped the network cruise to an early win on Tuesday night with an overall audience share of 23.7%.

The current series of the long-running renovation contest ends on Sunday with the properties going under the hammer.

Last night’s episode averaged 1.165m metro viewers. Taking into account regional viewing, the audience rose to 1.7m.

The renovation program was also the most watched program across key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Meanwhile, First Dates Australia, which aired at the same time as The Block, averaged 571,000 viewers for Seven..

Seven News had a 937,000 metro audience and 1.5m national viewers.

Nine News had a metro audience of 904,000 viewers.

 

Seven came in second for the evening with a 19.5% audience share.

 

ABC beat Ten to third place with a 12% audience share compared to ten’s 11.3%

ABC’s 7.30 and Catalyst rated metro audiences of 573,000 and 509,000 viewers respectively.

Ten’s highest rating program, The Project, with 492,000 metro viewers and 740,000 nationally for the better performing second half hour of the show.

SBS finished fifth with a 5.9% share.
