Final speakers for social media masterclass revealed

The final lineup for next week’s Mumbrella Masterclass on social media as a marketing tool has now been unveiled.

Two key speakers include Mike Hickinbotham, Telstra’s senior adviser on social media, who will be talking about how Big Pond built up its presence on Twitter; and Sean Cummins, founder of Cummins Nitro, who will give the inside story of Tourism Queensland’s acclaimed best job in the world campaign, which generated worldwide buzz without using any traditional media.

Final additions to the lineup include Heather Ann Snodgrass of Amnesia Razorfish, who will be teaching the basics of how to set up a blog, and explaining how Amnesia keeps up the pace on its own offering. And social media strategist Michael Watkins will be discussing how even relatively small brands can make an impact, including a case study of how he helped backpacker chain Base set up a Facebook presence.

The day – which is aimed at those working in media or marketing who are relatively new to social media – also includes a session from Julian Cole of social media agency The Population. Cole, who also compiles the Marketing Pioneers list, will be talking about the etiquette of social media marketing.

And Nick Holmes a Court, CEO of Buzz Numbers, will be explaining strategies for how to monitor what is being said about a brand in the social media world.

A small number of places are still available for next week’s masterclass. Details are available here.
