Financial Review Sunday makes debut on Nine this weekend

The AFR’s new show on Nine launches on Sunday.

The announcement:

Breaking business, investment, finance and political news and in-depth market analysis has found a home each Sunday morning on the Nine Network with Financial Review Sunday, live at 10.00am AEST.

Hosted by Deborah Knight, and launching this Sunday on Nine, Financial Review Sunday will feature expert panellists from the Nine Network, The Australian Financial Review and the Australian business community each week to discuss all the latest, and breaking, stories from around the nation.

This week on Financial Review Sunday:

COLES: From a business basket-case to a supermarket success story, the turnaround of Coles is extraordinary. We hear from the man leading the revival, Managing Director Ian McLeod. He took over exactly five years ago. This week we hear how he transformed Coles – and ask what he plans to do next in the ongoing battle with Woolworths. He also addresses accusations from the ACCC that the big supermarkets are bullying suppliers to keep prices down. And this sports-mad Scot takes us behind the scenes of his beloved St Kilda football club.

RIO TINTO: This multinational resources giant has had a tough time of late. Annual losses of $3 billion. Write downs of $14 billion. Now, though, there’s a new man in charge. Aussie Sam Walsh tells us how he aims to get the iconic company back on track, how he sees the future of our resources industry, and gives us his view on what government is – or isn’t – doing for Australian business.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Myer boss Bernie Brookes faced a furious backlash on social media this week for comments he made about the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It was, as they say, an epic fail. We investigate what big business is doing to engage with customers – and their complaints – across social media. With 12 million Australians on Facebook alone, it’s now a growing and essential part of business. But it comes with risk, as well as rewards.

REAR WINDOW: The Financial Review’s gossip column strikes fear into the heart of politicians, business leaders and celebrities. It’s a must-read section of the newspaper, breaking news and making mischief. Now it’s coming to TV. This week, Rear Window reporter Joe Aston sets his sights on Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott and John Singleton, among others. And in return, we get a bit of free advice from the Treasurer, Wayne Swan.

And in what’s been a big week for the markets, Deb Knight will be joined for analysis by star fund manager Anton Tagliaferro and James Chessell, Deputy Editor of the Financial Review.
