The ‘Tougher than you can imagine’ spot ran first on Toyota’s Facebook page before breaking around the France Vs New Zealand rugby game.
Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Nicky Bell said: “The campaign is the next expression of the famous Hilux ‘Unbreakable’ positioning that has been fueled in the past by such great campaigns as ‘Crumpy and Scotty’, ‘Bugger’ and ‘Bulls’. We’re pleased Kiwis are enjoying this as much as they did those.”

Seriously…WTF?

Yes that’s right @WTHilux? – all advertising is designed to create an immediate purchase response, or else it has failed.

‘LIKE’ – bloody great… especially the eyebrows on the dude with a pie.

Boaring – well that’s not true. Have you ever heard of Brand Awareness?

This is great and will sell it’s kiwi-knitted woollen socks off. Kiwi’s, like most Australians outside the 5km inner-city bubbles on the east coast have a roaring sense of humour.

was going so well….and then that stupid monkey said something unfunny and killed it.
Shame, I really quite liked it up until then.

Obviously seems like you guys know a lot abt advertising…
Brand awareness?? Yes Tim you’re right. After all, we def need to make people aware of the biggest car manufacturer in the world…selling its worldwide most popular 4×4 vehicle…
As for the purpose of those kinda ad, they’re more to re-enforce the ‘toughness’ of Hilux, like the bromance ad. This ad is touching the funny/silly side without making anyone laugh really. A good waste of Toyota’s $$.
Hey, after all, why should I care?

Hokey Pokey is an iconic kiwi ice cream thats why the end is hilarious
I miss NZ, bold clients.

Love it.
Additional Kiwi FYI – the dude with pie is not wearing a short dress. It’s called a swanny, short for SwanDri. It’s main advantage being that the wearer can stand astride a camp fire and warm their privates.
