First bi-annual print edition of InStyle Australia hits shelves six months after relaunch

Six months after officially relaunching InStyle into the Australian and New Zealand market, independent publisher Truth North Media has rolled out the first biannual print edition of the fashion and lifestyle masthead, with copies landing on shelves on Tuesday 13 September.

InStyle Australia was among eight titles closed by former publisher Bauer Media in July 2020, with then CEO Brendan Hill pointing to the ‘unprecedented’ circumstances faced by the industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason behind the closures.

18 months on, the licence for the masthead was purchased by True North, the newly opened independent publishing arm of advertising group Bashful Group, with Mumbrella reporting that the title would be helmed by former Elle Australia editor, Justine Cullen.

The biannual print edition follows the launch of InStyle Australia as a daily platform, rolling out monthly digital editions from April this year.

“The printed edition promises to be an indispensable resource for anyone who wants to know what’s in style this spring and into the summer. It’s a curation of all the season’s essential fashion and beauty trends, as well as an exploration of the culture of our times and celebration of the ideas, tastemakers and game-changers shaping the world we live in,” said editor-in-chief, Justine Cullen.

The 300-page spring/summer edition features Australian actress Olivia DeJonge, the actress behind Priscilla in the recent film Elvis, on the cover, with 127 pages of new season fashion and shopping and more than 20 pages of beauty, as well as special sections dedicated to men’s fashion, homewares, travel and motoring.

For the first printed issue, InStyle has partnered with Westfield to bring to life the shopping centre giant’s spring/summer season in a portrait feature starring boxer Harry Garside, actor Josh Heuston and stylist Julianna Yao. The imagery featured in the issue will be shared across Westfield’s network nationally, where Westfield Plus members can secure an exclusive copy of the magazine.

InStyle Australia’s online presence was recently awarded Cover of the Year for its pre-election shoot with Anthony Albanese and received a nomination for Launch/Relaunch of the Year at Mumbrella’s annual Publish Awards.
