First blood for Nine in 2011 TV ratings while Seven wins share battle

The official resumption of the 2011 ratings battle saw Nine draw first blood with Nine News the top program for Sunday, with an average audience of 1.637m.

However, Seven won the night in overall share.

Meanwhile, Australia’s easy victory in the final cricket one day international rated 1.227m for Nine, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

Seven’s best performer was Seven News with 1.431m, followed by Border Security with 1.25m.

The return of current affairs show Sunday Night rated 1.058m

Ten’s top rating show was Modern Family with 1.125m, followed by The Biggest Loser with 1.08m. Disappointingly for Ten, Hawaii Five-O was just below 1m on 999,000.  

Weekend Sunrise rated 357,000 for seven while Weekend Today rated 240,000.

In the 18-49 and 16-39 demographics, Ten’s shows did best, with Modern Family and The Biggest Loser the top two shows. In 25-54, Modern Family was top, followed by Nine News.
