Arriving: Langridge

Leaving: Mallinson

Fitness First marketing director Andy Mallinson has left the company after two years to take his family back to the UK. He has been replaced by David Langridge.

Mallinson, who has children aged six and eight, told Mumbrella: “It was time for the kids to connect with the family. It was a very difficult decision.”

Mallinson has been in Australia since being seconded by Virgin Mobile to head its Australian marketing team in 2003.

He later became managing director of the now defunct digital agency NetX, which was bought by the Clemenger Group.

Mallinson joined Fitness First in early 2009.

Fitness First does not retain a creative agency. Its media is handled by PHD, which was appointed without a pitch by Mallinson in one of his first acts as marketing director in what he described at the time as a stand against pitch culture.

PHD’s work for Fitness First – which saw the agency create a tie-in with fellow client New Balance – was a winner at the Media Federation Awards in September.

Mallinson’s replacement David Langridge has come out from the UK, where he was Fitness First’s head of group marketing.
