THEM's Mark Wightman, Sarah Mann and Jeff Miller with Fnuky's Jeremy Ervine
Adelaide agency Fnuky has sold to a local rival for an undisclosed sum.
The agency of ten people, which was founded by strategy director Jeremy Ervine and creative director David Campbell eight years ago, has been bought by THEM, a full service agency that has been on the acquisition trail in South Australia.
Ervine and Campbell are to leave the business to start a new venture. The Fnuky name will not remain.
The deal brings to an end three months of negotiations between Fnuky and THEM, which has been growing quickly by acquisition.
THEM bought LA Advertising in January and Motown Media last year. It now offers inhouse TV, radio and digital production and media buying as well as advertising and marketing services.
THEM was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
Ervine told Mumbrella: “I’m not a sentimental person. But I’m proud of what we’ve achieved with Fnuky. I think we’ve done better creative work than our competitors in South Australia in the last ten years. We wanted to come in and shake things up, and we’ve done that. Now it’s on to the next thing.”
Among Fnuky’s most memorable achievements in recent years have been winning a Gold Clio for Keep Australia Beautiful, winning Gruen Transfer and a campaign that changed legislation on internet filtering, Ervine said.
