Forgotten the joke in your ad isn’t yours? Maybe you need some red meat
Sometimes Dr Mumbo’s tipsters tell the story so well, he needs not change a word. Such is the case regarding this radio ad for Meat & Livestock Australia. Lisa Burton of Crowd Goes Wild tells him:
“I listen to ad breaks. It’s what I do. Commercial breaks on talkback radio are never earth-shattering but this particular commercial got my instant attention because as it unfolded, I got the weird feeling that I’d heard it before. Even though I hadn’t.
“My fingers froze on the keyboard as the old man cried and complained and then his friend says, ‘So why are you crying?’
“I delivered the punchline out loud (mostly) in unison with his friend: ‘I can’t remember where I live.’
“I haven’t heard the ad before, I’ve read it. At the newsagent.
“I sent a note to the Main Meal. Suggested they feed their agency some red meat and see if they can’t come up with something original.”
nice uncover. I wonder what their response was? meat is a trade that benefits no one but the people who’s pockets it lines

We’d be interested to confirm who is behind the ad.
By the way, while BMF handles a lot of MLA work, this is not theirs.
I think it’s Campaign Palace

@kahuna um, couldn’t you say the same for most trades?

That joke is probably older than the blokes on the card.

These people should be named and shamed. You can imagine the conversations at the agency, ‘sod it, it’s only radio who’s gonna know’. May I suggest an alternative to the Sirens & call it the Clangers.
