Former Bauer execs Cornelia Schulze and Julie Hancock buy Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle

Former Bauer Media executives Cornelia Schulze and Julie Hancock have bought Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle magazine.

The previous publishers, Marilyn and Phil Collins, put the title up for sale earlier this year, having owned it for more than 15 years.

After unexpected urgent surgery for Phil Collins, the couple were unable to continue running the publication.

Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine was established in 2003 and celebrates the region, its people and lifestyle featuring recipes, book reviews and, more recently, weddings.

Hancock, former Bauer advertising director and Schulze, former general manager for Homes & Food, said the opportunity was too good to pass up.

“It quickly became very clear that Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle was an institution in the local community,” said Hancock.

“We spoke to a number of advertisers, local Chambers of Commerce and industry bodies and feel extremely confident that there is the local support that will see the brand be able to grow exponentially.”

Schulze said the plan is to continue to develop the brand and reflect the region’s diversity.

The magazine was put up for sale in April

“The magazine and website celebrate the various communities within the area as well as giving a tantalising glimpse to those who aspire to the lifestyle! We have a strong vision for the brand and are very much looking forward to making that vision a reality for our readers and advertising partners,” Schulze said.

Marilyn and Phil Collins welcomed the sale: “We are very much looking forward to seeing Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine go from strength to strength under Cornelia and Julie’s ownership.”

The new edition will be on sale on November 15 and distributed through Hunter newsagents, selected agents in Sydney and on the NSW North Coast. The pair will also focus on building a subscriber base.
