Former Comms Council chair and Droga5 CEO Sudeep Gohil takes Publicis India strategy role
Former Communications Council chairman and Droga5 CEO Sudeep Gohil has been appointed to a major new role for Publicis Worldwide in India.
Gohil, who has spent much of his career in Australia, had most recently been working in a strategy role at the US at creative agency 72andSunny, which is about to launch into Australia.
Gohil will take on the role of chief strategy officer for the newly created Publicis Worldwide India group which includes the agency brands Marcel, Publicis Ambience, Publicis Capital and Publicis Worldwide, reports The Economic Times of India.
He started his career as a strategist at George Patterson in Sydney before working at agencies including BBH in Japan and London, and Wieden + Kennedy in the US.
It will not be Gohil’s first time working for the Publicis Group. He returned to Australia in 2007 to be head of planning at Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney.
However, within a few months he departed Saatchi & Saatchi to lead planning at the startup Sydney office of Droga5. He went on to become CEO of Droga5, which was closed down by founder David Droga in late 2015.
During his time at the helm of Droga5, Gohil also did a two year stint as chairman of The Communications Council, which is the voice of Australia’s creative agencies.
I really hope that Sudeep has learned lessons in leadership and humility since his Droga5 experience and the multiple roles he’s filled since

This feels like a massive step down both from a career and lifestyle point-of-view. Strange move.
