Former LinkedIn marketer Ben Eatwell joins Melbourne startup Weploy as CMO

LinkedIn Sales & Marketing Solutions’ head of marketing Ben Eatwell has joined recruitment startup Weploy as its first CMO.

Eatwell’s appointment follows former Corporate recruiter for Slack, Marissa Senzaki, joining the Melbourne-based startup as head of talent.

Newly appointed Weploy CMO, Ben Eatwell

Eatwell described in a media statement how he sees sales and marketing working closely together at the startup: “I will lead both the sales and marketing teams, my focus will be on creating a seamless experience for the customer and not on differentiating between revenue source,” he said.

“This growth phase is going to take the effort and spirit of the whole business. In reality, the sales and marketing functions are interdependent and share similar values, it’s largely attribution models that prevent them from shining as one team.

“The immediate focus is on creating a seamless customer experience so that employers can get the right staff in the right positions at a speed and scale unmatched anywhere before. Then, it’s all about spreading the word and bringing more Weployees and Weployers into the family. We have some exciting partnerships that will really help us scale throughout Australia and the insights we will start to uncover in terms of career paths will help not just weployers but the wider business community in general.”

Weploy is a recruitment platform using psychometric and cognitive tests to match candidates with jobs. The company, founded in 2016 by Nick La and Vince Luong, has raised a million dollars in seed funding since launching.

Head of growth Tony Wu commented: “If we want to be a billion dollar business, we need to act as a billion dollar business. So for me, I don’t think I do anything different. Regardless of which company they are working at, we want to provide all of our recruits the same level of attention, honesty and humility. We tell our story, keep it real and search for like-minded people who share the same passion we do.”
