Former Telstra CMO Joe Pollard becomes temporary advisor for Minderoo Foundation

Joe Pollard, who left the role of CMO at Telstra a year ago as part of a management shake up, has become a temporary senior advisor in Minderoo’s marketing and corporate communications team.

The short-term nature of the role sees Pollard fill in until Hourigan International fills the gap for Minderoo’s full-time communications leadership position.

Pollard is one of the Australian communications industry’s best-known executives

“Joe is one of Australia’s leading marketing executives,” Andrew Hagger, Minderoo’s chief executive, said.

“It is a privilege to welcome someone with her experience to the organisation. The Minderoo team is excited to have her on board, hear her ideas and work with her to strengthen Minderoo’s voice here in Western Australia, across the country and around the world.”

Pollard commenced in the role last week, commuting from Sydney for the Perth-based role, and will work across the foundation’s portfolio for the next few months. The Minderoo Foundation describes itself as a “modern philanthropic organisation”.

Before her stint at Telstra, she was chief executive at Publicis Mojo and Ninemsn, and spent 10 years based in the US for Nike, where she managed global media, e-commerce and branded content.

“I’ve followed Minderoo’s progress from afar for some time, and I’ve been impressed by the breadth and calibre of the projects the organisation and Andrew and Nicola Forrest take on,” Pollard said.

“I think Minderoo has tremendous capacity and potential, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together in the time that I’m here.”
